Amazon’s FBA Transformed E-Commerce Logistics—But at a Cost to Sellers
Amazon’s Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) program revolutionized shipping logistics by giving sellers access to fast, Prime-eligible fulfillment, streamlining multi-seller orders into single shipments. Originally launched as a helpful tool, FBA has become nearly mandatory for success due to its connection to winning the Buy Box (now Featured Offer).
While it offers speed and efficiency, sellers now face rising costs—with fees reportedly jumping from 24% to over 50% of the sale price for some brands. Still, sellers say the logistics lift from FBA enables business growth, even if it’s now considered a costly but necessary service.
US to Lower Tariffs on China for 90 Days, Offering Temporary Relief for Sellers
The US and China have agreed to a 90-day tariff suspension, cutting triple-digit tariffs by 115% while retaining a 10% duty. However, the removal of the de minimis exemption still means duties apply to all direct-to-consumer Chinese shipments under $800.
For Amazon sellers, this temporary window provides critical cost relief ahead of Q4 holiday inventory planning, helping brands protect profit margins. Still, the uncertainty beyond the 90 days means sellers should plan cautiously as logistics and sourcing conditions remain volatile.
Amazon Introduces Two-Part Titles in Historic Page Structure Overhaul
Amazon is rolling out a major update to product detail pages with a new two-part title structure: Part 1 will feature a short, clear title (brand, product type, size/variation), and Part 2 will highlight product features and benefits. This change is aimed at improving mobile shopping, supporting AI tools like Rufus, and driving better search performance through structured, high-priority data.
For Amazon sellers, this is a land grab opportunity—those who adapt early by optimizing highlights with high-volume keywords (not fluffy branding) can dominate search results. Spencer Millerberg stresses that this isn’t just a formatting tweak but a competitive advantage for brands that move fast before the Q2–Q3 rollout.
Amazon by the Numbers: Key Stats Sellers Should Know in 2025
Amazon now hosts over 9.7 million sellers worldwide, with 2.5 million actively selling, and third-party sellers account for 61% of total sales. U.S. Prime members have surpassed 180 million, making Prime Day and fast delivery perks increasingly vital for sales performance.
On average, Amazon ships 66,000 orders per hour, and mobile now accounts for over 70% of traffic, emphasizing the importance of mobile-optimized listings. For sellers, these stats highlight the need to stay competitive with fast fulfillment, Prime eligibility, and optimized mobile-first content.
Amazon Confirms It’s Using Your Website to Enforce Listing Compliance
Vanessa Hung reports that Amazon is now cross-checking your product listings with content from your external DTC site—including claims, descriptions, and images—to enforce compliance. A seller received a message confirming Amazon’s AI crawls and stores website data to flag inconsistencies or violations, even if those claims aren’t shown on the listing itself.
This means outdated product packaging or marketing phrases on your website can trigger ASIN takedowns, regardless of your Amazon content. For Amazon sellers, aligning all public-facing content with Amazon’s compliance expectations is no longer optional—it’s critical to avoid surprise suspensions.
TikTok Spends $1 Billion to Protect Sellers from Counterfeits
Leo Limin reports that TikTok has invested $1 billion and built a 1,800-person team to tackle intellectual property violations on its platform—aiming to attract more e-commerce brands to TikTok Shop. In the last six months, TikTok blocked or removed over 8 million products, banned 16,000 creators, and shut down 900 stores for IP violations.
This signals a major shift in TikTok’s commitment to creating a trustworthy shopping environment, addressing a major concern for brands wary of counterfeiting. For Amazon sellers exploring multi-channel strategies, TikTok Shop may now be a safer and more appealing option in 2025.
Temu Resumes Direct Shipments from China Following Tariff Pause
Temu is restarting direct-to-U.S. shipments from China after the recent 90-day tariff suspension between the U.S. and China, allowing the platform to lower prices again on many products. This move gives Temu a competitive edge in low-cost goods, especially as U.S. sellers continue to grapple with high shipping and fulfillment expenses.
For Amazon sellers, this development could reignite pricing pressure in key categories and signal rising competition from Chinese platforms regaining traction in the U.S. market. Sellers may need to reassess pricing, sourcing, and product positioning as Temu ramps up its aggressive discount strategy once more.
Amazon Signs New Deal With FedEx to Fill UPS Delivery Gaps
Amazon has signed a new partnership deal with FedEx to help cover delivery capacity after UPS significantly reduced its volume for Amazon earlier this year. This marks a major shift, as FedEx ended its Amazon partnership back in 2019 due to competitive tensions.
According to an internal document obtained by Business Insider, the deal offers Amazon “cost favorability,” meaning potential savings over using UPS. For Amazon sellers, this shift could stabilize shipping operations and reduce disruptions as Prime Day and Q4 planning ramp up.
Amazon Adds Minimum Inventory Thresholds for AWD Auto-Replenishment
Amazon sellers using Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) can now set both minimum and maximum inventory thresholds for auto-replenishment to FBA. This update gives sellers more control over when inventory is restocked from AWD to Amazon fulfillment centers.
It’s especially useful for managing steady-demand, seasonal, or new product launches. However, setting a minimum threshold makes products ineligible for certain storage fee waivers, so sellers must monitor inventory levels and associated FBA costs carefully.
Amazon to Adjust Fees for Inaccurate Partnered Carrier Shipment Measurements
Starting June 12, 2025, Amazon will begin issuing fee adjustments based on discrepancies between the weight and dimensions sellers enter and what Amazon’s Partnered Carriers actually measure. Sellers will receive credits if their estimates were too high or additional charges if they were too low.
These updates aim to improve shipment accuracy and transparency and will be reflected in the Inbound Performance dashboard under “Inaccurate transportation weight/dims.” For Amazon sellers, this makes precise shipment data more critical than ever to avoid unexpected costs.
Seller Tips & Tricks
Don’t Let Your TikTok Viral Product Kill Your Amazon Seller Account
TikTok virality can drive massive traffic to Amazon listings, but sellers are increasingly facing account suspensions due to violations linked to influencer marketing tactics. Agencies and creators often engage in actions—like reimbursing purchases, incentivizing reviews, or manipulating ranking—that directly conflict with Amazon’s strict compliance rules.
Amazon is now flagging listings based on content found outside the platform, including brand websites and TikTok campaigns. To stay compliant, sellers must align all marketing channels with Amazon policy and avoid shortcuts that could jeopardize their accounts.
Prep for Retail’s Peak Season
Amazon Shipping shares key strategies to help sellers prepare for the holiday surge and smaller seasonal peaks like Prime Day and back-to-school. By forecasting demand early and coordinating with shipping providers, sellers can ensure they have the inventory, labor, and logistics ready to meet customer expectations.
Amazon Shipping offers 7-day pickups, package tracking with photo confirmation, and software integrations to streamline operations. For Amazon sellers, this guide highlights how smart shipping decisions can reduce stress, avoid bottlenecks, and improve both delivery speed and customer satisfaction.
Amazon Sellers Can Now Automatically Improve Product Listings With New Gen AI Tool
Amazon has launched “Enhance My Listing,” a generative AI-powered tool that helps sellers effortlessly optimize existing product listings using real-time customer data and seasonal trends. The tool suggests improvements for titles, bullet points, descriptions, and attributes—saving time and improving listing quality, with sellers reporting up to 40% improvement and 90% acceptance with little or no edits.
Sellers can input a few keywords, images, or URLs to generate full listings, and the bulk listing workflow can auto-create optimized content at scale. This AI upgrade, built on Amazon Bedrock, is part of a broader suite including Project Amelia and AI-generated A+ content, video ads, and personalized recommendations—all aimed at helping sellers boost discoverability and sales.
Boost Sales with A+ Content Best Practices for Amazon Sellers
Amazon reminds brand-registered sellers to enhance their product listings with A+ Content by following proven best practices, such as building a compelling brand story and using high-quality images that show the product in use. Using both Brand Story and Basic A+ modules, along with text fields and descriptive alt-text, improves discoverability and helps listings perform better.
Amazon emphasizes detailed, specific product explanations over vague marketing copy to drive higher conversions. Sellers are also encouraged to use the shoppable Comparison Table and leverage generative AI tools in the A+ Content Manager to streamline content creation and avoid reusing generic images.
Amazon Sellers: Inventory Management Tips For 2025
Staying in stock while avoiding excess inventory is more critical than ever as Amazon enforces stricter limits via its Inventory Performance Index (IPI) and capacity management system. Sellers must monitor metrics like sell-through rate and excess inventory levels, which heavily influence IPI scores and FBA storage limits.
Fees for both overstocking and understocking are increasing, with penalties like low inventory level fees and high long-term storage charges making inventory mismanagement costly. Robyn Johnson advises Amazon sellers to focus on fast-moving SKUs, optimize listings, and make small, frequent shipments to improve IPI and protect margins.
Amazon Offers Live Webinars to Help Sellers Master B2B and Listings
Amazon sellers can now join free, live webinars to improve B2B engagement and listing management using Amazon tools and strategies. One session focuses on optimizing B2B quote requests, covering pricing, delivery, and handling customer expectations.
Another is a three-part series on listing creation, including how to match existing ASINs, use bulk upload tools, and troubleshoot file uploads. Each session includes Q&A, offering sellers direct access to Amazon experts.
How Amazon’s FBA Changed the Shipping Logistics Playbook in E-Commerce
Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) has evolved from a helpful tool into an essential system that powers fast delivery, improves customer satisfaction, and gives sellers access to Prime buyers. Its logistics efficiency and competitive shipping rates helped small brands grow while transforming Amazon into a global shipping powerhouse.
However, rising FBA fees—now consuming up to 50% of a product’s sale price—are putting pressure on sellers, especially for slow-moving or out-of-stock items. Despite frustrations, FBA remains key to winning the Buy Box and competing on Amazon, with regional fulfillment hubs further enhancing speed and efficiency.
